Our tips – How to choose, install, and use your Ombréa® Signature Package
The Ombréa® Signature Package 10x20 manual bicolor was designed to create a true outdoor living space: a large bioclimatic pergola, full enclosure thanks to the 6 x 10 ft blinds, and extended comfort with 2 x 3 kW heaters. Below are our tips to help you get the most out of your setup, easily and for the long term.
1) Why choose a 10x20 freestanding bioclimatic pergola?
A freestanding pergola is an independent structure that you can install wherever it makes the most sense on your property: near the house, by a pool, above a dining area, or over an outdoor lounge. Its main advantage is placement flexibility, while creating a welcoming space to host guests, enjoy family meals, or relax.
The bioclimatic system lets you adapt comfort to changing weather: the adjustable louvers help manage shade, airflow, and sunlight. In rainy conditions, the roof remains watertight and water is evacuated through the drainage system integrated into the posts.
2) Installation: our recommendations before anchoring to the ground
Install your pergola on a perfectly level surface, ideally a concrete slab. If you choose footing pads, make sure they are properly sized and positioned to ensure squareness and post stability. Depending on your municipality and your specific setup (size, location, required clearances), a permit may be required.
3) 10 ft (3 m) blinds: installation and usage tips
For the best result, we recommend purchasing and installing the blinds at the same time as the pergola. This makes it easier to assemble everything and then anchor the full structure to the ground under good conditions. If you install the blinds after the pergola is anchored, make sure—using a level—that the pergola is perfectly straight and that the posts are positioned at 90° before installing the rails.
Important: the rail cannot be mounted to the wall of the house. It is not possible to use the blind to mount it on the right or left side of wall-mounted (lean-to) pergolas.
In case of heavy rain, strong winds, or snow, it is strongly recommended to retract the blinds.
4) 3 kW heater: our tips to maximize comfort
An outdoor heater turns your Ombréa® pergola into a true living space when temperatures drop. For optimal comfort, position it above a dining area or outdoor lounge to create an even heat zone. Combined with the enclosure provided by the blinds, it helps create a cozy sheltered space from spring through fall.
- Place the heater above your main living area (dining or lounge) for more effective warmth.
- Combine heater + blinds to extend the use of your patio over several months.
- Adjust the heat intensity to match the vibe: higher on chilly evenings, lower for light thermal comfort.
- By equipping your pergola with a heater, you increase the return on your investment by enjoying your outdoor space longer each year.
